2018 Oct 1 Philadelphia

Founded in 1695.  It hosted members of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution.  among early members were Benjamin and Deborah Franklin, Betsy Ross, John Penn (William's grandson) and signers of the constitution and of the Declaration of Independence.

Independence Hall below.

Inside Independence Hall, this room is where the Pennsylvania Supreme Court held their sessions.

Most of this is the original molding.

This room is were the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, and George Washington accepted the role of commander in chief of the Colonial armies.
The original Rising Sun chair that Washington occupied during the drafting of the Constitution.

Adjoining to Independence Hall was where the first congress held their sessions.
Below is a drawing depicting the early fighting that went on in Congress.  Some things never change.
Liberty Bell with Independence Hall in the background.

Where the first Supreme Court held their sessions.  There were only 6 Justices in the beginning.

Ben Franklin and his wife were buried in a cemetery near Christ Church an Independence Hall.
We took a tour of this US Mint in downtown Philadelphia.  Pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, are minted here.  We followed the process from designing, making the die (mold), cutting the circle, stamping the coin with the design, inspecting, and bagging.  Several billion coins have been made here this year alone.

At the Philadelphia Metropolitan Art Museum (the Rocky steps).
Here's Rocky.
Philadelphia City Hall below.  It's got to be the prettiest City Hall anywhere.
